You Twitter followers can unfollow you for different reasons.

Most people dont really care when others unfollow them but if you belong to the other category and want to track when users stop following your Twitter updates, here are a few services to help you out:
#1. Follow Monitor

twitter_followers

Just follow the @FollowMonitor bot on Twitter and it will send you public replies (not Direct Messages) with a list of users who may have recently unfollowed you on Twitter.

The bot will add the actual Twitter handles of your previous friends in its tweet (see example) so theyll be indirectly notified that you now know that they unfollowed you.

#2. Nutshell Mail

NutshellMail will send you an email digest at custom intervals with a list of Twitter users (and their profile pictures) who have stopped following you since the last update.

With NuthshellMail, you can track new followers and unfollowers across all your Twitter accounts from a central place (your email inbox) and since the service uses OAuth, you dont have to share your Twitter credentials anywhere.

#3. Goodbye Buddy

goodbye

Follow @goodbyebuddy on Twitter and this will send you a Direct Message each time someone unfollows you on Twitter. Works like a charm.

* Qwitter is another service that sends you an email as soon as you lose a follower on twitter but I skipped it as I am not too sure if the service works anymore though their website is very much functional.
#4. Twitter Less

twitter_less

Like @followmonitor, @tless* is a Twitter bot that will help you know who dropped you on Twitter. You just have to follow the @tless bot and it will automatically track your Twitter followers.

With TwitterLess, you can also learn how many new Twitter followers you have gained with time and who all have left you since the day you started following @tless. *Update: The bot is not functional anymore
