Future Laptop?

You may not need a briefcase to carry your laptop in the near feature. Just roll the computer and wear it like a shoulder handbag.

Orkin Design, a design firm in Germany, has created a amazing concept computer that can be used both as a laptop and a tablet (slate). It features a large multitouch screen, USB ports, webcam, stylus and everything that you probably look for in a computer.

The sad part, you can only experience this flexible laptop in a video and we dont know if any of the hardware companies are actually working on such a design. As one commenter points out:

Its an interesting concept, but It is probably a long ways from any sort of actual prototype. Forget DVD drives, what about Circuit boards! They would need to find a new material instead of the current silicon, as circuit boards today cant withstand much flexibility.

I know simple circuit boards are flexible (hence rollup keyboards), but I have yet to see a flexible motherboard that supports the required watts/current of a modern chipset and processor.

The Link With Zune & iPod

The teardown reveals some interesting “secrets” about the components used in the Google Phone.

For example, the touchscreen is made by Samsung who is also a supplier for Microsoft Zune HD. The Bluetooth and wireless chip found in the Nexus One is from Broadcom and it the same chip that is used by Apple for iPod touch.

Could this be really true that HTC Hero will run on Android 2.1? Several screenshots have been found of Android 2.1 running on Hero.

It could be that Google might be releasing a minor update to Android 2.0 before the end of 2009 and have teased us with that in the screenshot above, but there is still no official word on this.

Now thanks to a very simple tutorial posted by Kong Technology, HTC Windows Mobile users can try out Android on their devices without actually replacing WinMo.

How to Run Android on Windows Mobile Phone

To get Android running on your phone, just follow the simple steps below:

1. First step is to visit this website and locate the latest Android package for your phone. These Android packages have been modified for HTC WinMo phones.

2. Now download the latest version of HaRET which is the Windows Mobile application that allows you to boot into Android.

3. Unzip everything from the Android package & HaRET into the root of your external storage. For the Diamond, you need to unzip into its internal storage root.

4. Next step is to get the correct startup.txt file. Visit here to get it.

5. Once all the above steps are completed, start HaRET from inside Windows Mobile
. Your phone should reboot directly into Android!

Data connection might not work on this version of Android on HTC WinMo phones, but if you still wan tto give it a try, follow this guide.
